Part of our mission at Crossroads is to go and serve God by serving others. We want to help people get on mission doing what Jesus did and taught, so we’ve created ways for you to serve in big ways and small ways. Whether you want to serve locally or globally, we want to help you.
Local Outreach Teams
We have a number of Local Outreach Teams designed to meet different needs in our community. These are great ways for us to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Food Pantry Team – Meeting this basic need of every individual is vital. We are committed to provide food to those in need, both in Crossroads and in our community. We work with Food Share to provide over 300 meals a week and the hope of Jesus Christ. This occurs at Crossroads on Thursday afternoons, every week. Contact Dave Inocente for more information and to get involved.
Helping Hands Team – We’re here to serve the elderly, poor, disabled, single parents, and foster homes of the church family primarily, and secondly to members of the community who are in need of handy work or help that they cannot do themselves and cannot afford to have someone else do. Contact Matt MacLaren for more information and to get involved.
Local Serve Team – We want to help you, your family, and your Life Group serve with various non-profits in the community as often as you’d like. We will help arrange serve opportunities with organizations like the RAIN Transitional Living Center, Gabriel House, Church at the Park, ACTION, and others. Contact Tyler Vander Schuur for more information and to get involved.
Local Opportunities
We care about our community and want to make sure that there are opportunities for you and your family to serve. Throughout the year, we provide big opportunities for the whole church to serve together.
We regularly partner with the ACTION Foundation for their yearly Serve Day where churches throughout the county work together to take care of our community. We also have other serve days around the holidays where we provide food and clothes, and minister to those in our local community who need it most.
Those are just our big events. If you don’t want to wait around for one of those, we have Local Outreach Teams that will help you serve our community!
Global Outreach
Not only are we committed to serving our local community, we’re committed to serving our global community as well. We support missionaries around the globe, go on international outreach trips, and are partnering with churches in Rwanda and Burundi to be a part of a healthy church movement throughout their countries.
In Costa Rica, we support Seeds of Hope, we do outreach with at risk girls, and we support a growing church plant. For the past two summers, our students have volunteered there.
In Thailand, we support Abba House, run by Joyce and David Moore, as they bring the gospel to those at a local university and in sexual slavery. They also help liberate people in sexual slavery.
Our Method
Over the past 35+ years of doing church, we’ve learned that we need to have a solid strategy to do what God has called us to do. That’s why for our Outreach, we use the PEACE Plan.
“The PEACE Plan is a church to church strategy mobilizing ordinary church members to do normal tasks that make a difference in the world. There aren’t enough doctors, teachers, or missionaries to solve the world’s giant problems, but we believe there is an army of believers waiting to be mobilized.” (Rick Warren)
It’s designed to combat five global giants of sin we think are at the core of many of the world’s problems. We believe that spiritual emptiness can be cured with churches that promote reconciliation. We believe that self-serving leadership can be cured when we raise up and equip servant leaders. We believe that poverty can be alleviated when we assist the poor. We believe that disease can be cured when we care for the sick and equip people to do that. We believe that illiteracy can we fixed through education.
That’s what PEACE is about: Planting healthy churches, Equipping servant leaders, Assisting the poor, Caring for the sick, and Educating the next generation. To do that, we need all hands on deck in our local communities and in the world helping where they can, as they can.
